U.S. Dollar General plans 1,000 openings

Dollar General, U.S. discount retailer (US$25.6 billion revenue in FY 2018, +9.2%) plans to open 1,000 stores in 2020. In Q3 2019, its comparable sales grew by 4.6% – making it the fastest quarterly growth in 5 years. In 2018, DG opened 836 locations. In beginning of 2019, it ran 15,370 stores across 44 states in rural and suburban areas. With this goal in mind, DG’s growth will be nearly unrivalled in the industry.
