Ikea adopts McDonald’s best practices
In the restaurant retail sector, touch screens for self-ordering are widely available as a ubiquitous customer-facing technology. In Europe, the world’s largest furniture retailer Ikea has decided to deploy this technology across all stores. In Paris, the Ikea urban store (located in the Madeleine area) offers 10 digital screens developed by Wincor Nixdorf, the manufacturer of screens for customer orders in Ikea’s restaurant business. Their advantage is to increase speed and efficiency. Kitchens receive all the details of an order even before the customer has paid.
