Sephora responded to a plea from Aurora James, founder of the Brother Vellies line of accessories, to encourage retailers to devote 15% of their sales space to black-majority businesses. As anti-racism protests intensify, Sephora published a long-term commitment to diversify the supply chain and build a fresh system to provide a better platform to grow black-owned brands. Sephora will use Accelerate, an internal incubation program for women founders, to focus exclusively on women of colour from 2021.
