The Emerging Capital Partners investment fund (total value of US$640 million) is expected to acquire the Burger King franchise in South Africa for an estimated US$48 million. It is due to own 95.3% of the company shares to operate the Burger King franchise in South Africa. The shares are sold by the investment company Grand Parade Investment (GPI), which aims to sell all shares in the food manufacturing company Grand Foods Meat Plant, an operator of processed-meat production sites). Burger King South Africa is the premier client of the plant. GPI wishes to rebalance its share price via a more attractive and effective portfolio of assets.
